 | Elite Cow owned and bred by Mrs. A. Nieuwoudt of Woodrose Red Poll Stud |
Famer's Weekly, in cooperation with the ARC-Animal Improvement Institude, anually sponsors trophies for the Best Elite Cow in each breed that participates in the National Beef Cattle Improvement Scheme. The cows are identified from the Elite group of fo the best producing cows and must adhere to even higher standards, including an average ICP not exceeding 400 days. The reason for applying higher standards is to facilitate the process of indentifying the very best cow in each breed.
Congratulations to Anzabeth Nieuwoudt, owner of the Woodrose Red Poll Stud near Schweizer-Reneke in the North West, on winning this prestige?s award for the second consecutive year.
AN950027 comes from a good genetic line and has the performance worthy of this year's award. With the lowest intercalving period of all 15 Farmer's Weekly-ARC Best Elite Cows for 2006, she has produced nine calves and once calved twise in the same year.
